Idea's

For the interactive website I was planning on doing either:

my mother’s boss:

-          a dentist

 I figured this would be a good idea because there is a lot I could do with a dentist because there could be a lot of Photoshop work that would make it quite successful to advertise going to that dentist.

I also thought it would be a good idea because there is a lot of footage I could obtain and photograph.

The other option is my uncle:

-          a carpenter

my uncle is self employed and works as a carpenter, I figured that this would be a good idea because you see more of what he has made previously and show the quality of his work.

As he makes his own products by hand I could show the creative process of how he makes them, and the tools used to make them.

I along with my teacher thought that it would be best to go with doing a website for my uncle, with carpentry there is a lot to talk about, for example the process and the creation of what he makes.

Also, with the dentist option I would have to film the patients of the dentist while they have their teeth done and looked at which would be quite difficult to do as they would have to sign legal document stating that they are okay being filmed.

Also, I don’t think that they would like to be filmed while at the dentist.

Another reason I chose to do a website for my uncle was because as a company like a dentist they probably have good recognition unlike my uncle who is self employed so it would much better to make a website for uncle instead.

My uncle had previously built onto the base on his house, and by that, I mean that he added another part to his house to make it bigger since he does have 3 children who are currently growing so a bigger house would be helpful for him.

Other work my uncle does is repair windows, doors and roofing which I think would work well in a website.

In the website i could show the tools used in carpentry and what they'er used for.

Also in the website I could show the work my uncle is currently doing or previous work.

In the website i would like to achieve shots that are aesthetic and show what it is they do so a lot of video's and photo's like this, would be the sort of thing I want to achieve in this website.

My uncle isn't the only self employed carpenter in my family, my cousin is also a carpenter and I could interview him as well as my uncle as they have worked together on projects.

As for the website itself the appearance itself I want it to be quite professional and have relevant things on it.

As for the pages i want a minimum of 3, I say 3 because I don't want pages filled with thing that are irrelevant to the page so that will be the minimum so that the footage I collect would be enough to fill pages with thing that a relevant.

The pages themselves i was thinking

of having:

A home page that leads to the other pages and basic imagery of what my uncle does

An about me page to tell the people reading the website about my uncle and why you should choose him to do your carpentry work. I also want it to give social media information, phone number and email to get in contact with him.

A Gallery page to showcase what work he has previously done before.

Also for another page there could be a pricing and booking page so that they know the price and can book it online.

After I had a chat with my uncle about the website we talked about the colour schemes and he suggested having the colours:

black, red, grey's and white

We thought that these colours will look professional.

my uncle agreed to take me to a place where he is working so I can take picture's and video's for the website the day's of which I may be going is either Monday or Wednesday.

for the website i wanted the images and information, i wanted to have images of the equipment he uses and the work he had done previously.

as for the information i asked him what he does and the typical pricing of the work that he does.

i also asked the price of the equipment he uses, and what each part is used for in the different works he does.

for this page i feel that the two idea's i came up with were good and the reasoning for choosing to do the carpentry topic instead of the dentist idea

i liked the idea's i had for the website and the idea's i got from speaking with the client about what he wanted for his website.

things i need to improve:

next time if i were doing this i would, look into more idea's and find other topics of which i could do a website on.

i also think that i could have talked more with my client of what he wanted as his responses were rather vague, and the things he told me i could add weren't clear enough so i had to work with what other's who are familiar with the business.

what i learnt from this:

from doing this page of the interactive website, i learnt my weakness in coming up with idea's and working with others.

however in this project i did learn how to work with a client better as i did the project.
